Prof. Genxi Li received his BA in Polymer Chem., MA in Analytical Chemistry, and Ph.D. also in Analytical Chemistry, from the Chemistry Department at Nanjing University, China, in 1988, 1991, and 1994, respectively. Then, he was a postdoctoral in the Biochemistry Department also at this University, and in 1996, he was an Associate Professor, from 2001, a full professor. He worked as a visiting scholar in the Department of Biology, Munich University, Germany, in 1998; Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tohoku University, Japan, in 1999, and Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, Harvard University, USA, in 2000. From 2006, he is also a Professor affiliated with the School of Life Sciences, Shanghai University, China. From January in 1999 to May in 2010, he was the Chair of the Biochemistry Department at Nanjing University, and from November in 2008 to October in 2011, he was the Dean of the School of Life Sciences at Shanghai University. He was the former Vice-president and Secretary-General of the Chinese Protein Society, and currently, member of the Council of several societies in China. He is also a member of the editorial board of Scientific Reports and several others. The main research interests of our lab include protein electrochemistry, protein engineering, biological signal molecules, molecule recognition and interaction, and some other related areas. Currently, our research mainly involves electrochemical studies on the structure and function of proteins, the 3rd generation electrochemical biosensors, solvent engineering, nano-technology, electron transfer of bio-macromolecules, the structure and function of the cellular membrane, signal transduction, etc.
